Marnus Labuschagne Omitted from Australia's One-Day International Team Versus Team India
Labuschagne finds himself omitted from Australia's three-match ODI series facing India, with high-performing Queensland colleague Matt Renshaw earning a unexpected selection.
Recent Form Lead to Exclusion
Labuschagne has been omitted from the one-day international squad following managing only a single run in both of his innings during the recent series against South Africa in August. Labuschagne has a highest score of forty-seven in his most recent ten ODI innings.
The 31-year-old has featured in 68 one-day internationals and amassed 1,871 ODI runs at an batting average of 34.64, but will now work towards a Test recall ahead of the Ashes beginning in Perth on 21 November.
Renshaw's Return and Other Squad Changes
Recent performances suggest of a improvement in form with a score of 160 for Queensland in the domestic first-class competition this week, while Renshaw made a hundred for the Bulls in the same game against Tasmania.
Renshaw could to make his ODI debut in the forthcoming series against India after last being included in an ODI squad in 2022.
He has played 14 Tests with the last coming in India in 2023 but is also hoping for a red-ball recall as Australia look for a fix to their batting top-order problems.
Bowling Additions and Fitness News
Fast bowler Mitchell Starc returns for the ODI series against India after taking a break since starring for Australia in the 3-0 Test series sweep of West Indies in July.
Big Bash star Mitch Owen might get his ODI debut after being concussed in the build-up to Australia’s last 50-over series against South Africa.

Australia have announced a squad for only the first two T20s against India with the Ashes approaching, although Glenn Maxwell will miss all of the five-match series due to a wrist injury suffered in New Zealand.
Mitch Marsh will captain both the ODI and T20 teams after smashing a century in the last match against New Zealand to clinch a series clean sweep last week.
“Selectors have announced a squad for the ODI series and first two games of the T20 series as there will be some management through the later stages of the series as players get ready for the summer through domestic first-class matches,” Australia chair of selectors George Bailey said.
“The majority of the T20 squad will stay as a group as it’s an important period in the preparation for the World Cup next year, however we are aiming to find equilibrium to ensure we simultaneously get ready certain individuals for the Test matches ahead.”
Australia’s three-match ODI series against India starts on October 19 in Perth, before the opponents play five T20s from 29 October.
