Man Utd Manager Ruben Amorim States He Cannot Avoid Underwhelming Performance
Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim experiences the strain during the three-one loss at opponents
Man Utd head coach Ruben Amorim admits he cannot conceal from his poor record and states it is expected that Old Trafford icons are commenting on him.
Earlier this week, the club's record goalscorer Wayne Rooney mentioned during his show that "the heart has gone" from his old team.
Amorim has secured just eighteen victories from his 49 games in control, featuring 9 out of thirty-three in the English top flight, where he has still to record two consecutive victories.
Although senior Old Trafford insiders are adamant that the club owner continues to be supportive Amorim, failure to defeat recently promoted Sunderland on the weekend will trigger new discussion about his future heading into the upcoming fortnight international break.
"This is expected," said the Portuguese manager, when asked about Rooney's comments. "One can't run away from the results."
"Additionally you have the history from the previous campaign, [although] that period for me is irrelevant."
Fan Reaction and Current Circumstances
Manchester United's fans remained behind Amorim following the previous campaign's disappointing fare, when they finished 15th in the table - their worst finish since the 1973-74 relegation campaign - and were defeated in the Europa League showpiece, in the expectation that this season would be considerably improved.
The manager assured fans the situation would change because he had greater time to prepare with his team without the midweek distraction of European football.
That is not how the first six fixtures have developed as United have endured 3 losses so far and are currently 14th in the league.
Manager's Reaction to Concerns
When asked what assurances he could offer followers that the circumstances will change, the manager stated: "This is not the time to talk, it is the time to prove."
"I review the fixtures this season and, for me, they are completely varied, but I have little to say at the current time."
- Manchester United presently occupy the fourteenth place in the top flight
- The manager has won just 18 of his 49 games in control
- The former striker recently criticized the club's current situation
- Saturday's fixture against their opponents is critical for the manager's position
